Antique Elegant Plain Oil Lamp-Vintage Early 1900’s-Ready to Use

This listing is for an elegant, but plain antique oil lamp with a classical simple pattern. This is a two piece lamp with the font made in a 3 piece mold and the stem in a two piece mold, probably in the late 1890’s or early 1900’s. The glass is crisp and clear. The burner is a #2 mostly brass burner that is marked “EAGLE” on the flange. The collar is an early brass Ebling collar that dates from the late 1800’s or early 1900’s. It is tight, secure and has good threads, and no cracks. I did have to polish both the collar and the burner so they would match due to loss of patina during cleaning. Now they will dull down together and create a new even patina over time. The lamp measures about 8 1/2″ tall to the top of the base, not including the burner and 5 3/4″ across the base. The chimney is 8 1/2″ tall. The overall height of the lamp assembled is about 17 3/4″ tall.

Condition is very good….no cracks or noticeable chips to the lamp base or chimney. There is a little roughness on the seams, including the bottom rim, most probably from the unmolding process that left behind glass that leaked into the seam, but nothing disfiguring. There are a few straw marks in the glass of the base ….. these occur when the glass shrinks as it cools in the mold. These flaws left behind are not damage and just add uniqueness and interest to this lovely old lamp. The chimney is plain, and could be a replacement. The burner screws in and out easily, works and there is a new wick I have supplied that moves up and down easily as well. All you need to do is fill this lamp with lamp oil and light it. Great item for when the lights go out at home during a storm…..these make very elegant and special gifts as well. They are also just wonderful to use….romantic and chic! This is a beautiful old utilitarian lamp probably dating from the early 1900’s….great piece to add to any collection and ready to use again!
